Prayer Day 3

Notes

The Bible tells us that God is willing to hear and answer our prayers. He is not too busy.  He is very interested in our lives. He cares about His children because He is our heavenly Father.

In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus tells a story of a persistent widow who finally got what she wanted from a mean judge. It is easy to wrongly interpret this story. We can think of ourselves as the poor helpless widow and God as the the judge, who is not really interested in our situation because He is too busy running the universe. Jesus is not trying to tell us to beg and bother God until He finally has to give us what we want just lust to stop us annoying Him.

But no, this story really explains how God feels about our prayers.

It is a parable using a study of opposites.

We are not like the widow.

We have a relationship with the judge, because we are His children and He loves to hear our voice.

Secondly, our loving heavenly Father is nothing like this judge.

God is righteous, holy and tender, responsive and sympathetic.

According to Lev 26, Deut 28 He wants to bless us and is willing and ready to share His resources with His people.

Not only is God WILLING TO HELP US He is also ABLE to help us.

God has all power and He can change any circumstance or any situation.

He is able to do immeasurably more that all we ask or imagine. Eph 3:20-21

Psalm 84:11, For the Lord is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to you a future and a hope.

Luke 18:1, Then He spoke a parable to them that men always out to pray and not lose heart
